Self-Care and Living in Balance

A Morning with My Dogs and Daily Rituals

In this video, I talk about self-care, planning my wedding, and overcoming my fear of judgment, especially regarding my artwork.

I love the way my dogs sleep. Good morning to everyone reading this! I'm still determining my sleeping habits, but my dogs? They adore sleeping on their backs. It's their favorite thing to do. As for me, my day begins with the simple act of brushing my teeth. Morning routines are essential, offering me some alone time before the rest of the world wakes up. After brushing, I dive into my skincare routine. I start by washing my face with my favorite soap. It's incredible how long a single bottle lasts! I apply my vitamin C serum to keep my skin glowing and moisturized. And for the final touch? The Fenty face moisturizer. It's been a game-changer for my skin.

Self-Care and Little Indulgences

The next step in my routine is moisturizing my skin. I've been using this Ravi moisturizer for quite some time now, and let me tell you, it's fantastic. On a recent trip to the grocery store, I decided to treat myself. Initially, I went in for some milk but left with a beautiful bouquet. Why not? We all deserve a little treat now and then.

Evening Preparations and Reflections

Fast forward to the evening. After spending some time planning my wedding, it was time to prepare dinner. I wish I could've shown you my dinner prep, but now it was delicious. After dinner, I always make it a point to clean up, ensuring everything's ready for the next day.

Speaking of the next day, it started with making coffee. Do you have a specific morning routine? For me, it varies. Some days, I have plans, and I jot them down. On other days, I go with the flow. Regardless, there are constants: painting, preparing meals for my husband and family, and caring for myself. These priorities always remain.

A Culinary Delight

On this particular day, I prepared pesto chicken with mushrooms and orzo. It turned out deliciously well. And now that it's fall, I've indulged in butternut squash almost weekly. Whether I roast it with a sprinkle of salt and pepper or turn it into a creamy soup, it's always a hit, especially with my husband.

Journaling: My Safe Haven

After dinner, I retreated to my room to journal. This practice has been a part of my life for over two years. It's a comforting space where I can express myself freely. Sometimes, I grapple with self-doubt, especially regarding my art. But I always remind myself of my "why." My art represents the women from my country, Guinea, West Africa. It's a tribute to their daily lives, which differ from what many know. Translating these experiences into art has been a journey I'm incredibly proud of.

Thank you for joining me on this day in my life. I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my routines, passions, and reflections. Until next time, take care!
